I love mail! Don’t you!?

Mail, mail, mail— I love sending and receiving letters. This project was inspired by mail enthusiasm and the desire to keep it alive by subverting the dominance that corporations have over this precious form of correspondence. I get so many credit card offers, marketing postcards, and statements that I swear were supposed to be paperless; it can make one reluctant to check or even open what the mail person brings. Frankly, I know many who don’t do so daily, but more so biweekly or monthly.

I’ve been honored to open my P.O. Box and discover handwritten mail from some of you and it NEVER gets old. I thought I’d share some of my favorites.

My very first piece of physical mail came from Danielle all the way in Wahiawa, Hawaii! I pulled it from the P.O. Box, grinning from ear to ear. Dani congratulated me on the launch of my passion project and shared words of encouragement before sharing that she was also pursuing her passions in illustration. She does these incredible pieces that incorporate dinosaurs and botanical drawings. The card featured one of many creations that can also be purchased in her shop. I sent this postcard back.

Justie sent good vibes from Arizona, with this beautiful letterpress card. She requested mail for a friend who would soon be moving to be closer to her grandparents. Just a little note of appreciation and some well wishes!

This heartfelt note from Dave about how his wife, Kelly has been so supportive as he pursues his freelance career full-time, was super special. Sometimes, it only takes one good person in your corner to help you navigate the unknown. Here’s the handmade card that was sent to Kelly. Dave also sent me some sweet stickers! Check out his work here and here

Over the break, Natalie sent me a lovely holiday card! She told me all about moving to Austin and adopting Haru earlier and I sent back this postcard. It was a nice surprise to see these two in my mailbox! She sent me the cutest stickers too! See? Natalie has lots of cool stuff in her online shop. Check it out.

I’m so excited to get more physical mail this year! Keep them coming!
